Alternator wiring.

Ok I have a GM 80 amp it works the way I have it but the 2 slots at the top for the regulator. one says its sposed to be hooked to the power for the ignition I was thinking about doing that to see it more amps come out of it. Im not really getting that much, 50 or so instead of 80. Probly need to tear it down but one project at a time. My question Is the stock cable for the toyota wireing alternator has my fuel pump being powered by it. dont ask me why probly just the closest power.. you think I can use a wire splice and get power for my alt regualtor or is there a chance it could fry my fuel pump dont wanna spend 80 for another.? cause its just sposed to turn it on the volt regualr in the alternator when the key is on, and your not sposed to wire it directly to the battery cause it will shorten the life span of the alterator. any advice is helpfull.
