93 4runner window up with tailgate down

So on my 93 runner I had to swap ignition switch out. Now I want to re key all the door locks. The only one I'm having a problem with is the one on the tailgate because of the rear window. The question is how do I let the window up while the tailgate is down. So I can remove lock without completely removing the window. Thanks in advance

you have to jumper the window motor the safeties will not allow the window to work with the hatch open

It would have been easier to key the new ignition cylinder instead of all the rest just curious why you didn`t ??

easy peasy

what you need to do to roll the window up with the gate open is to close the latches on both sides of the gate, put a screwdriver in the slot in the latch where it catches when closed and roll the catch to the closed position. then you can roll the window up while supporting the glass. be careful not to roll it out too far without support

when you reverse the process you will need to pull the handle and at the same time use your screwdriver to pull each latch to the open position. they don't spring open when you pull the handle and if they are closed when you try to slam the tailgate shut.... no bueno!

Came here to say exactly this. ^^^ Click the latches to trick all the switches into thinking it's closed. Like he said, support the glass carefully since it won't have the track anymore to hold it.
