80 pu not charging

i have a 1980 toy P/U 4wd, and its not charging the battery. ive replaced the alt. twice, the voltage regulator (new, not refurbished), redone most of the wiring, replaced the terminals, and ran a fully charged battery each time something was replaced and its still not charging. any ideas? i need to get this thing back on the trails. thanks

Is it not charging, or is it discharging?

its only gettin 12v to the battery, when it needs 14 or 16 to keep it charged and running, so its not the battery.

What you are saying isn't necessarily true, but considering you have a fresh battery I won't get into that. Sounds like your cables are bad. Do a volt drop test. I'd pay particular attention to the negative cable and it's connection to the block. You replaced the terminal ends, but that doesn't mean the cables aren't bad, they can corrode from the inside out.

There are lots of helpful, great people on this forum, but none of us are mind readers. You'll have to be more specific.

Did you figure out the original problem?
