1987 rear window stuck open
Hey all
I lowered my window to get something out and now it will not go up. Also notice the rear wiper is not working.
I found a youtube a guy did for a 1990 4runner. He disconnected the rear wiper motor electric plug then used a jumper bypass on the red and green wires which allowed the rear window to work again.
Would like to try this but wanted to know for sure I would be using correct two wires with jumper bypass.
Anybody have luck with this?
Thanks

If you remove the carpet and backing plate from the tail gate, you can disconnect the window motor and apply power directly to the connector, this will allow you to roll your window back up at least. It's very likely it's just one of the safety features stopping your window from functioning though, the tail gate needs to be latched fully on both sides, the wiper needs to be fully seated in its spot, there is a canopy bolt that needs to be properly installed(not likely your issue). Oh, tail gate also needs to be locked. There may be another safety feature or two that can stop it, can't recall at the moment.
I have never used the jumper fix, but I believe it just bypasses all the safety functions so the window will move.
It's also not terribly difficult to wire in a new Double Pole Double Throw switch, with an inline fuse coming off of the battery. That is what I did until my window tracks rusted out, then I tore the whole thing out and installed a canopy style flip up window made out of plexiglass.
