1985 pickup power window issue

Ok so my driver side window always went up and down quickly and had no issues, the passenger side has always been verrry slow. But for some reason after i rolled down my drivers side window it would not go back up. It would roll down and make a noise but would do nothing when you push the switch up. I cleaned the contacts on the switch already, wiring appears good. Is it a bad motor? Im debating spending the $60 for a new motor or getting some manual doors and making these half doors. Anyone have any input on whats wrong?

Likely a bad motor.

Sounds like a bad motor. Most likely what helped the motor go bad is that the rubber tracks put a lot of friction on the motor. Get some silicone spray and get the rubber seals soaked in the silicone and it will roll up quicker and easier.

Works great on manual windows too. I have had windows that almost would break the window crank or strip the plastic spline in the handle and then do the seals and you could roll it with two fingers.

Even though you cleaned the contacts in your switch it is possible they are just worn so hard they are no longer making contact.

Did you jumper the the pins on the switch plug to see if the motor then worked??

Just might be a wire is broken in the harness where it comes out of the door.

Then motors do wear out.

Good luck.

That happened to my truck. Got it fixed. The problem is already the window motor.
