keyless/alarm options

i might be buying a 98 4Runner (4x4, 5spd) soon. I forgot to look under the seat today for the alarm brain, but I'm almost positive it has factory alarm/keyless. however the owner no longer has the remote. is the factory alarm in 98s the RS3000 or RS3200? is the 3000 the 2 button remote, and the 3200 is the 3 button remote? if its the 3000, could i swap it out with a 3200 (i like the remote rear window feature). Also, i have read many of yalls recommendations for the commando 870. is it possible to program the remote for the 870 to control the rear window?

so i think i have 3 options:

1. buy a new remote of ebay and program it

2. swap it with a 3200
i think this is it? - http://www.brandsport.com/toy-08585-35840.html

3. buy a commando 870

what do you guys think?

garrett,

the 98s came equipped with the rs3000. the alarm remote has two big buttons. buy the black remotes, not the grey ones. here's my page on the subject and reprogramming: http://www.4runners.org/articles/rs3000

i had it and i sold it. personally, i think most of the problems w/ the rs3000 is because the installers use splices. also, the remote range is pathetic.

if you have the money and time to install the commando, do it. i cant tell you how happy i am with mine. better range, better features, etc, etc
