Will a 2003 trd E-locker fit in my 2nd gen?

i have a 90 4runner 3.0 and a buddy is going to have his trd tacoma repo'd so he said i can switch out the carrier with the one in his truck with is an e locker. i was wondering what i would have to modify to get that into my 4runner, or if it would even fit?

In short, yes it will fit. I'd suggest you do a search though, there's TONS of posts on this very topic.

Provided it's an 8"....which for some reason I am thinking that there was something different about the taco axles. Maybe I'm just losing my mind...

Anyway, you have to do some grinding/cutting on your axle, as well as I believe there's a stud that needs to be replaced with one that's longer.

Problem with your idea is that you can retro fit his 3rd into yours but since his housing is already cut to accept the e-locked 3rd, your open 3rd won't work in there.

Notice the differences?

What, exactly, makes you think it's ok to remove parts from a truck that's about to get repossessed? Is it some sort of ploy to "stick it to the man?"

I'd put you up there with the douchebags who pull all of the copper pipe and wiring out of the walls of their foreclosed home right before leaving. The fact that your buddy couldn't afford to keep his truck doesn't make it ok for you two to destroy it for whomever purchases it next. And, of course, your plans are entirely illegal.

wow...pretty quick to jump to conclusions there rez. Maybe his truck is getting recalled for frame rust as thousands of other ones have been. In which case the truck only has to be in "drivable condition" to turn it in.

He said repo'd. That doesn't connote a frame-rust recall to me.

hey easy up captain good deed. i had no intention of "destroying" his vehicle for the next owner thats why i asked the question that i did, to see if i could SWITCH the 2 not just take his. I think the word you meant is Devalue. and if you would have read all 2 posts before yours would have realized its not possible, so no reason to name call nor compare me to someone that does tens of thousands of dollars of damage to a house.
