where to buy a carbd 22r?
So my motor is toast , cracked head , block , etc. So i need another motor. I was wondering who are some well known vendors with good reputations on rebuilt engines or new engines. Any links or advice would be appreciated. I wish i could find a decent engine used but every1 around here wants to sell junk and NONE of them are in the truck running so its kinda like playing the lottery and im just not gonna do that.

rebuild yours..
22R's are harder to find in the later years.
You'll have to find a new block, so find a 22RE or 22R in your area.
Then you'll need a head, so go shopping. Might consider getting a cam, too.
Anyways, if your head is cracked and your block is cracked. Your best bet is to buy another block and rebuild it.

I just dont have the time , knowledge or tools to do a rebuild. Plus ANY machineing over here takes atleast a month. I just wanna buy a motor and drop it in....Ive found one with a documented 85,000 miles BUT its been sitting up like 6 months to a year...not quiet sure what problems that would cause. Im sure the gaskets are shot and its possibly seized if it hasnt been hand turned over every so often.

Depending on what you are looking for, there are a few places you can buy them prebuilt and ready to go. You can find used ones as well. For new or fresh rebuilts, look at:

There are a couple of Toyota guys in Western North Carolina that may have a 22R/RE pretty cheap. You may have to rebuild, but they will probably have a good block for you to start with if they don't have a complete engine. The easiest way to get them is through e-Bay. I have bought parts from the first link and have spoken with the second link a couple of times.

Hope that helps some. You may want to post something in the classifieds in the "Items Wanted" section. Look for a good shop that can handle the rebuild for you if you supply the parts if you don't feel comfortable doing a rebuild. This way, you can pick and choose the best parts possible and they can handle the rebuild. If you're not familiar with the local shops and the quality they produce, you need to make sure you do some homework and check them out first.
