I am pretty sure I am one of the only people running 4.30 diffs with a 5-speed tranny. Yes, I swapped them in from an e-locked AT donor rig...

What do I like best? Passing people at WOT in 3rd gear.

I love everything about it. I really do. Computers were my hobbie (along with paintballing)

The 4Runner is great. I love being outside, and I know that I can take it a lot of places most rigs can't go. Its so much better than something like a ford exloder.

Something only i have (not 100% finished, about 95%) is an ipod dock i fiberglassed into the center console right infront of the transfercase shifter. Soon to have some sweet puddle lights (need for all the rain and mud we have here, and a mude hole i have to park in until i get some gravel dumped there in my driveway)

I like the fact that it brings me into such a great online community, and also the fact that the rear seats fold flat when im carrying junk.

reviving an old thread!!
--------------------
i like mine because i can go anywhere i would want to, it is comfortable and very good on gas...can't leave out the reliability...it is a true Sport UTILITY Vehicle...

my favourite moment with mine is may long went camping, when we got there it was raining, so i decided not to set up the tent, instead i put everything in the front 2 seats and folded down the rear 2 and slept there in the dry warmth. to my surprise we wake up the next morning to 6 inches of wet HEAVY snow that collapsed all of the other tents in the area, haha..

All of the above and when I pass by a mall crawler chevy/dodge/ford with an 1' lift and huge tires that never see anything but pavement, I can take pride in the fact I still have more ground clearance than them!

I like the fact that it is covered in the back. So you can put gear back there, and it won't get wet/stolen. It's also a good place to....well, you know....

has more ground clearance in stock form than most other stock trucks/suvs even fullsized. great offroad ability even with IFS and insanely reliable.. no oil changes in the first 16 years of life (gunked out engine) and still running great and all i did was replace the timing chain. removeable hardtop blah blah blah basically everything about the truck i love expect one thing....

its RUST PRONE! (mines not yet but it will eventually )

i love my 3.0 because the damn paint is still soo shiney!!!

it is the most reliable vehicle i have EVER SEEN.
i almost have 200,000 miles, and like mentioned before, i would definately not hesitate to drive it anwhere...

i think this is engineering at the best weve ever seen

new cars still cant compete!

I WISH I COULD BUY A BRAND NEW 95 RUNNER AGAIN!!!!!!!

Comfort is the biggest factor with my 4Runner. Heated leather seats are the best! Also, the size of the 4Runner is just right.

Predictability of reliability was why I went from a second gen to a 3rd gen.
Relative inexpensive to keep maintained (particularly compare to a 2nd gen)
Rear window operation allows me to let the dog in and out from the driver's seat (she is a leaper!)
After market upgrade and support including fine forums such as this one and T4R

And #1- the ex does not have one!

Most reliable car i have ever own, also. Past two cars were a land rover, and a Volkswagen, let me tell you how much the repair shops liked me, one of them has my picture hanging on the wall.
