What should I do with this dana 35?
I got my hands on a rear axle with 4.10 gears out of a 1995 YJ. It's complete drum to drum but not sure what to do with it. I had been thinking about taking the gears out for future plans with my Tacoma but have been rethinking that.
Any suggestions?

Dana 35s are junk axles, especially if used with anything over 31" tires. Even a Jeep owner would have no use for it. If/when they break one, they would upgrade to a Dana 44, or at least a Chrysler 8.25".
The gears won't be of any use to you in your Toyota axles.
Find the nearest Jeep owner with a busted rear axle and sell it to him for like $10 if he's not planning on upgrading and just needs a stock replacement.
Otherwise, see if you can get a couple bucks for it at a metal scrapyard.

A D35?
Chrome it and use it as a door stop.
Drop it overboard and make an artificial reef.
Melt it down and re-do your fillings with the metal.
Kick it repeatedly because it feels so good when you stop.
Set it upright in concrete in the yard and let the dogs "pitstop" on it.
Ship it C.O.D. to someone you don't like.
Paint it like a free weight and lean it against a sign for a gym.
Drop it on your head for even thinking about using it...
hahahhahahhahah

its kind of useful providing you have 5 on 4.5 lug pattern (4x2 toys excluding prerunners):
building a light duty trailer with a matching pattern
cutting the flanges off the axle shafts to make a spare tire mount

that is the only thing worth doing--maybe, but any of Rob's ideas will work too.

It's hardly a sought after axle as mentioned above but if you can find someone with a 4.0 YJ and 33's the 4.10's will be a good upgrade from their 3.07's and they won't have to install any gears. If they're just on the road/light trail they'll be fine strengthwise.
