what grade fuel do you use?
hey whats up everyone, im new here but i was curious if you guys think its worth it to fill the tank with mid grade (89 i think) or premium (91 i think) gas. as you might have guessed i dont know too much about cars/trucks or anything automotive. btw i just bought a 02 sport edition as you can see in the pic, so far ive put a grille guard (some ĊĊĊĊty one i wish i hadnt bought), tints, a new cd player and a K&N cold air intake

87 octane, even when towing my 3700 pound camper in the summer with the a/c on at 70 mph. Anything higher than that is just a waste of money on a third gen unless you have a supercharger.

87 for me. I'll run mid-grade stuff (91) for 2 or 3 tanks once a winter just because my truck seems to like the change. I don't notice any improvements in running 91 long term, but for 3 weeks or so in the middle of winter, the truck seems to like it.
Though, with gas prices so high this winter, I'm yet to do it.

87 for me. Sometimes I'll tank up with 89 if I'm towing but I don't really notice a difference on my 3rd gen, either in performance or fuel mileage (and I keep strict mileage records). My 2nd gen, on the other hand, needed 89 or better whenever I towed for additional hill climbing power and to stop occasional pinging. Otherwise, anything higher than 87 is a waste of your hard-earned $$'s.

ohh and for those who know. what does "WOT" stand for?? 99 4 Runner 4x4 Stock...
The advantage of running such a high Octane value gasoline is no pinging in the engine even though I fitted the TRD s/c'r.
