The intake / return assembly was plugged will dirt and stuff. I had to pull the tank to clean it out. I blew all the debris out of the intake tube and now I am waiting to pickup a new sump filter and gasket to put it all back together.

Weber 34 DGEC headaches -please help

New to the forum and reading alot about Weber carbs, even though a lot of these posts are old... Still not finding any good feedback on the 34 DGEC which makes me nervous.
I have a '84 w/22R and a Weber(?) 34 DGEC and i have a lot of trouble with cold starts. I dont believe the electric choke is working properly..
(This is just the beginning, but definitely my biggest problem with the thing next to the lack of power and the gas guzzling.....)
Can anyone help?
I have an electric fuel pump & pushing 2.5psi into the 34DGEC

i have a 34 DGEC weber carb on my 22r and i had to adjust the idle mixture and the choke and i like it i can turn a corner when streets are wet in 3rd gear and break the tires loose and its just a stock motor and exhaust for now the only problem i had was i sucked some water and the number 4 cylinder died but the carb its self is a good one once you get it tuned

Go EFI... The early ones from a Celica or Supra are supposed to be stupid simple...

Something about vary few wires and a closed loop system?

Only stay carb if you've got a tall deck 22R. Then you put a 20R head on it...

...or you want to go propane. Or just plain prefer a carb.

"Many people say EFI is better than a carb offroad because a carburetor does not run so well on extreme angles. This is not necessarily true. First of all, unless you're in a truggy, before you're at a side hill too extreme for your carb, the truck is rolling over. The pitch is what you need to worry about. A 22R carb will run fine on the steepest downhill; but has trouble on steep uphills.

This is because when the carb is tilted back, too much fuel is dumped down the intake. There are a number of things to solve this. One option is the flip the carb around, but of course then it will have trouble running on down hills...."

i stuck a 32/36 weber w/ elec choke on my truck yesterday (82 2x4 5 speed).. it was simple to put on, and other than forgetting to put the gasket inbetween the carb and intake it went smooth. it makes more power, gets better millage (i drive 43 miles each way to work) and cruizes up good size hills at 70 -80 with ease.. compared to 55 60... and 25 mph to the 32 im getting so far..

298 out the door.. ordered it from a local shop and got it the next day. tuned it myself.. very happy, and i love the sound it makes. ive alwas had a weber on the vw's. love weber carbs..

I bought my truck with a weber 32/36 on it, and its all in the tuning. It wasn't tuned right and performance was bad! Once I started tuning, immediate increase in performance! I can hit 40mph in 2nd in about 5-8 sec, that's with 31''s and stock gears.

And a note on the flooding. You can adjust the float level lower and it does better.
