weber 38...just for the record

i bought a truck a few years ago with a weber 38 and an inline elec pump. worked ok, made a little noise. the pump burned out and i replaced with a carter 4070 after reading through the yotatech forum archives. the carter was way loud, so loud that everyone always asked what was buzzing. it was very loud and i couldn't stand it anymore so i put the stock mechanical pump on and guess what... it runs just fine, better than ever, in fact... so if you are gonna run the weber 38, i want you to know that the stock pump works perfect for me. make sure to connect to your fuel return line and it should be aces.

Yep, the stock fuel pump is more than enough to work with the weber 38.

A weber only wants to see 4-5 PSI of fuel pressure and most of the generic carbed electric pumps put out 8-10. So yes I bet it does run better. Especially if the stock pump on yours has a return line and it's hooked up.
