Well, they don't do alot of diff work. But, they will install a drop in locker. I could have done it myself, but my axle had a history of leaky seals at the 3rd memeber, so I wanted to have someone do it who could be responsible for it if it leaked.

Protrux went to install it and found that the pinion had loosened up, so they sent it to Progear (because they did my original gear setup). Progear is the ones who ended up installing the locker and supposedly setting the pinion depth and backlash again.

I'm not sure if Protrux usually uses them or Oside, but I don't think they will be using Progear again after my incident.

I was told that the detroit carrier uses larger than normal bearings so your stockbearings wont press on. that and you cant use the locking clamps on the ring gear because the locker "flange" is thicker than a stock carrier.

I also have a detroit in the back of mine.

Does the detroit come with it's own special bearings then?

Are you sure you can't use the locking clamps one the ring gear bolts? That sounds wierd to me.

The old Detroit used the 'big' bearing.....some people called it a Detroit Hardlocker...they were around before 1995 or so. Here is a pic of the "V6 ID/4 cyl OD special bearing. That's an ARB in the background and they use that same bearing in the 4 cyl diffs

Spend a couple hundred extra, go ARB, Detroit are known to turn into paper weights after you break an axle. There's been several toy ARBs, new in box, on PBB in the last couple months for around $500.
