I have been very happy with mine it may not be the fastest but I have pulled a Dodge dulley sunk almost to the axles in mud out with it and it did not even seem to strain it in the least.

Thats the only time I have used it other then to see if it would pull my truck up a tree and it did well then as well.

I payed 360 for mine from 4wheelparts but got a unlimited life time warranty with for that prcie and they said if I drop it off a 10 storie building sweep up the parts and send it to them and they will replace it for free.
One day when the upgraded verison comes out I may just try out the warrenty lol.

Yep, you cant beat the warranty either... Cant wait to beat the hell out of this thing.. It is slow but hey 300 for a winch that works well and isnt from Harbor Freight?? So far i dont think anyone can find a comparabale winch for the same coin..

I dont recall where, but i read a review on these awhile ago. Consensus was that although it was slow it was a hands down winner overall. Speed isnt always needed.

That's what people who have never used a Warn 9.5ti say ... you get spoiled by the line speed in a HURRY. Especially when double line pulls are required and cut the speed in half.

I dont think myself or the broke 4 wheeler guy will really care about 10 minutes versus 20 minutes when they/ I am stuck in a hole and need to get out.. atleast there will be something to pull us out.. Better slow, then nothing (ive had 2, 9.5ti's returned for service with burned up motors) within the last year, one m15000 returned, and an little utility which im sure was user error.. ive never had a mile marker or super winch come back with service issues.

I am curious about comparing these Smittybilt winches with the new Gorilla 8000 lb winch.....

I know its just under $400, and with a 5.5hp motor on it, I couldn't find the specs of it, but Johnny if you have any info on this winch I would love to hear it.

I dont know anything about the Gorilla winches... Bull Dog winches are cheap and "decent" but they're customer service sucks big time, i wont even hanlde their winches any longer because of it although there was a good amount of mark-up in them for the retailer... Smittybuilt is now handled by TransAmericanWholesale who is my "main" distributor, they're also known as 4wheelparts.com..... I feel like im giving away too much insider info!!LOL and Trans is a FANTASTIC company, cant go wrong doing business with them as a dealer or a consumer....

Ok, Ihad my brother in law bury my power wagon in his back 40 today.. My power wagon COULD have unstuck itself due to its capabilties but (locked front and rear dana 60's 40 TSL's LOTS OF POWA) we did hat we could.. He buried it a good 28 inches in poo... I ran out about 40 feet of the winch line, It was slow but it pulled it out... I cycled it 10 seconds on 15 seconds off, it took about 10 minutes or so to pull the truck out and down to 10 feet of line... Yes its slow, but I'll tell ya, It didnt get hot, when I wanted it to pull it was more then willing and furthermore were talking about a FULL SIZE power wagon with 40's!!! I'm sold on these guys so far..... More updates to come as I abuse this little Unit...

Can the selector housing on these be unbolted and rotated like on the warns (as to fit it inside an ARB type bumper)?

Yes it can be "clocked" so that the leaver will clear...

I will go get the wagon stuck in a mud hole up on king mountain this weekend and see how it handles pulling that big old pig out... I am gong to also try it with a snatch block and see what happens also.. I will keep this updated, with pics to follow eventually...

Hey King montain... That's named after my family (my Dads family - last name of King imagine that- used to own Huge ammounts of property down in that area and around Wolf Creek) Good to see more Oregonians.

. Good to hear that these winches are a viable low cost option. While I'm a T-max and Warn beliver, not everyone can afford the cost, or even want to pay that much in general.

Cheers

Beware of the "wolf Creekers!!!" LOL they're a rough crowd LOL.. King Mountain and granite hill are pretty much "default" wheeling areas.. King mountain, sheesh, i havent even discovered all of it yet and my in laws live a few miles from the first four corners up the old dirt road.. That isnt a joke....
I'm pretty fresh down here, only been here bout a year but my wife grew up down here so i got familiar with Southern Oregon pretty fast.. Anyways cool to see someone recoginzing the area more over NAMED AFTER IT!!!

Not everyone can afford the top of the line Warn. Sounds like a good winch for the $$$.
