Tacoma frame issues

Any truth to the fact that Toyota is now extending the rust protection warranty to 15 years and either fixing or buying back Tacomas with bad frames?

Just curious. Where did you here this from? My brothers Taco is a 2001 and about to break in half with all the rust on the frame. Its pretty unfortunate actually.

TTORA had a posting about it today but, no actual confirmation as of yet.
Supposedly a guy from PA already has his truck at the dealer and that is what they told him, they gave him a new Tundra as a loaner and said they will be keeping his truck until its fixed or bought back.
Supposedly the trucks they do buy back will be rated at blue book "excellent" condition no matter what and might be bluebook times 1.5%.
I would really like confirmation on this.....as I have some friends with frame issues......here in PA they use roadsalt in the winter......real tough on bodies and frames......they rust real bad here!

We've also posted the 'official' documentation (available so far ...) over at CustomTacos, too:

It they are buying back trucks I give Toyota props for taking care of the customer. Most makes would not do the same.

It's all true, but the rust/corrosion has got to be really bad before they do anything about it. My brother took his '00 down last week to have it looked at and they said it wasn't bad enough to worry about. They are looking for perforations in the frame only. He(my brother) has had to replace the steering rack tie rod ends and numerous suspension parts, due to the rust and corrosion but they were not interested in that stuff. Just the frame. I've had to re-weld a few things on his truck, so naturally we were thinking that his is pretty bad, but not bad enough I guess.
