Switching from 10" wide rims to 8"

One of my friends recently got an 88 4Runner that has BFG MT 31X10.50X15 tires on some 15X10 centerline rims and he wants to switch them to 15X8 stock rims. He is not sure how long the tires have been on those rims but the tires are in good shape and have a decent amount of tread on them. The previous owner used it for camping, so its been on fire roads, but nothing more.

Is there anything to be concerned about as far as the tires themselves? Is there any risk of the tires being stretched and not fitting properly on the narrower rim after being on wide rims?

Thanks!!

they'll be fine. mounting a 10.50 on a 10" rim is crazy as is.

Thanks for the quick reply - I didn't think there was anything to be concerned about, but its better to ask and be sure.

The truck does look a little ridiculous with such wide rims. He just got the truck and thats on the top of the "to do" list, right after rebuilding the motor. He fell victim to a blown headgasket over the weekend.

8" wide rim is still a little wide.
7" is norm for a 10.5.

Though, if your buying aftermarket rims, might as well go with an 8 so you can put a 12.5 on it at a later date if you want.
