Starter bendix getting jammed in flywheel

94 4Runner, 4x4, V6 w/ manual transmission.
Got up yesterday and tried to start 4Runner it turned over about a second then everything stopped except for the hum of the starter trying to do its job until I released the key.
Pulled the starter off took it to parts house to have it checked, guy said it was good.
Brought it home and put it back on 4Runner started right up.
Got up this morning and tried to start it, once again the bendix jammed in flywheel after a second or so and everything stopped again just like yesterday morning.
Any ideas before I go to ripping my hair out. 4Runner has run like a champ until now.

Did you watch the starter being tested ??

Know the person that tested the starter ??

If the starter drive was jammed in the fly wheel teeth How much prying and banging was needed to remove the starter??

Sounds like a Low Voltage problem . What voltage are you getting at the starter when grounding to the bottom starter bolt ?

Didn't watch I walked around store looking but I heard it run 3x no strange noises coming from it and I asked him if it was throwing the bendix out and pulling it back in, he said yes.
No I don't personally know him.
It wasn't hard to pull off but I had put it in gear and rocked it like the manual said to free it up before taking it off.
From hot stud on starter to ground on starter body I'm getting 12.2v
The battery is only about 2wks old.

i almost want to say it's just old and worn out but when it stops/gets hung up the sound it makes tells me it still got plenty of torque and it started up after my return from the parts house so I know the engines not locked up. I am stumped on this issue.
its raining here all day so I'm not going to mess with it today but I'm going to try to get a friend to try to start it tomorrow and I'm going to watch it and see if I can see it doing something. I already know it not because the bolts are tight and it hasn't left the driveway so I know they haven't worked loose but stranger things have happened.

thank you for your help with this crazy issue Wyoming9. If we can fix it you will be my new hero...

This is what I was thinking too. Your vehicle info is not in your signature so I can't say much beyond that.

The more I think it comes back to Low Voltage .

If it was a drive train issue it most likely would happen all the time

Loose Flywheel you don`t say if the transmission has been out.

Nothing broken or cracked in the Transmission mount area ?? I could see how something might shift putting stress on the front shaft causing it to produce a massive amount of pressure trying to turn the engine

Injector leaking or coolant leak into a cylinder locking the engine up till it drains into the oil pan . Level in the pan??
