Small lift, Big tires

I often see the awesome look of large tires ig 40s on a first gen toyota pickup with little lift like these:

I wonder why people don't go for this look with the newer trucks like the third gen (89-95 maybe?) or tacomas.

When people do put big tires like this they usually put large lifts and skip the fender cutting. Is the because of the ifs and natural lift when adding solid axle? I would love to see this look on the third gen.

Getting the IFS trucks and tacomas to sit that low is more challenging do MUCH less arch in the front frame. With out chopping up the frame the only place to put the axle is below it.

I have a 3rd gen, 3" total lift from the SAS/chevys with 38. 2-3" up travel in the front, cut fenders... Its hard to get it that low without re doing the front of the frame..

I was running 35s stock on the IFS with just the cut fenders, but the ifs didnt like it. 0 Lift

Solid axle pics. 3" total lift over stock, 38s.

If I had bigger tires or if it was any lower, I would need to remove more sheet metal, on both the firewall and under air and battery boxs.

Thats another thing i realized. I saw a pic of a flatbed and you can see that in the rear also the frame has bends that make the cab low. You say its hard to get that low on a newer truck so how did you do it? Your truck looks good! I really like 1st gens the best but I like the extra seats of the third

I did it by using RUF leafs, only having 2-3" up travel in the front. If I used TGs 3" kit the the truck would be about 2-3" taller and have that much more up travel. Build thread is in my signature for more details and pictures.
