I have an '89 runner, 22re. It has developed a shudder around 2500 rpm in second gear, this is also an auto tranny. It doesn't do this in first. I have checked the fluids and seems to be fine. The u-joints are fine. Is this a transmission problem or a diff problem?

 

replaced the rear u-joint. All is good.

 

Good deal! Much cheaper than a trans rebuild.

Now grease the joints often.
