Where did you pick up those lights?

Here's cheapo cup holders, just a couple rolls of tape, if you get the ones that are really sticky on the sides, like gorilla tape (which will hold itself to a vertical surface) they stay in place really good unlesss you move them around alot, they are good for things like the huge drive through cups and cans of soda (esp if your stock cup holders are broken) price: just about free as everyone has duct-tape laying around

Two other things I did:

Hella headlights- way better than old stock lights and easier to change out bulbs, price: about $80

Map lights- out of an SR5, lights up the cab better at night and just plain nice to have, just wire them into the dome light and they work just like they should (when the doors open), price: about $25 off ebay and whatever $$$ for wires


On my old '86 4runner: I wired in a switch for the back window, I put the switch on the plastic "inner bed panel" by the tailgate. It was just nice to have when you sleep back there and you don't have to climb to the front to put the key in and use the switch up there. Sorry as I don't have a write up for this one, I did it about 10 years ago

Wow, a lot of great ideas here!

I'm a photographer and was looking for a nighttime solution to changing lenses and such in the truck while keeping my eyes night adapted.

I replaced one of my maplights with a good quality red bulb. Now I can do stuff in my car like screw around with photo gear and read directions and maps while driving at night without killing my night vision! Its just dim enough, and the other map light is plenty bright when I need it.

ECT mod
graywire mod
extended diff breathers
lowered carrier bearing (with washers)
lowered front diff (also with washers)
hardwired power inverter

They can be found at trailer or truck supply houses. I have the 10 LED ones but they make 20 LED version that are brighter (more expensive). I cut out the bumper with a die grinder and connected them direct to the reverse lights. Took about 2 hours.

On my dads 4runner he put in a autozone ricepipe with k&n filter and a cold air box made out of a 1995 bonnevile door skin (30 bucks). Along with a homemade turbonator (its free but see link below for true turbonator ours works the same way but its cheaper to make your own and helps power alot). A catback 1988 pickup flowmaster exhaust from his wrecked truck (50 bucks when he got it for his truck). Cleaned the intake sensors (free). Ported throttle body (20 bucks by a friend). Cranked the afm 4 cranks (free). Timing advanced 12 degrees (free). Cranked t-bars (free). Used 2in leveling kit in rear (100 bucks). Used 31x10.5x15 ssr intercos on 15x9 american eagle series 058's (150 bucks). Welded factory front and rear 4.10's (free). Removed runing boards (free). Tottal $350 and one good looking and performing truck.

Oh yeah, I also did a custom Mag Lite mount in my 4Runner. It is such a clean install, it actually looks like it belongs in there..............

Here's what I did:

I wedged my MagLite between the driver's seat, and the center console.

That's all.

Total cost: $3.00(Maglite needed new batteries).

when I take things apart on the motor I paint the bolts different colors so I know where they go for what part on my 3.0 all the intake manifold bolts are red also make them stick out so I don't miss one when taking it off.

um where do i start, i removed my bumper and switched the plugs for the clear corners to the turn signals, lincoln locked the rear diff, extended the diff breathers, converted my ac pump to an air compressor, made "spotter friendly" lights out of my old blinker housings, (i have hid headlights and when wheelin with other people they allways complain!!!!) custom made center console with 8in sub and cd mp3 player inside, 1/2 doors, custom led tail lights(tired of replacing lenses) flat black super easy to take care of paint (no scratches here!!!) hillbilly super thermostat mod (cardboard in front of radiator) axillary fuse block, toggle switch for ecu power (anti theft device!!!) gas tank and battery in the bed, (makes a whole lot more room under the truck with the tank in the bed!!!) home made super beefy rear shackles, home made sliders, self built grant wheel adapter, bunch more just cant think right now



you can see one of my "spotter friendly" lights in the pic the other one came loose on the trail so i removed it (they are both back on now)

Found some free scrap steel and and the rest was just time and patience, but it is different and I like it, and best of all it gave me alot of precious tim spent with ole blue!

Dirtbiker -- if you look at the picture, the screws are actually "one way" so they can't be screwed out. But hell, I live in Boston so I don't keep especially valuable stuff in the truck anyhow...
