my problem is that when i get on the highway, i get a shaking problem, then when i hit the brakes its really bad. it goes away till i go back to a lower speed, then comes back and goes away again. i have aftermarket wheels, and the alignment is good, and have replaced all of the brake components, along with a reframe. help me please...

 

Generally speaking... if the vibration changes with speed ie: vibes at 40, but goes away at 60, then returns at 70.... its usually related to tire balance, or a warped/bent rim, or bad belts in tires.... If it vibes when hitting brakes always, then rotors are suspect, or possibly a bent rim.

Hit any nasty potholes lately?

 

How well do the wheel centers fit your front hubs and rear drums? I had an issue with my Jetta when the aftermarket wheel centers were too large. It caused a lot of vibration at highway speeds and killed my wheel bearings. I had to get hubcentric rings to fill in the difference. Once I did, it drove great.

 

When you say brake components, did that include rotors? If not, the cause might be warped rotors.

Also, I had my truck start shaking on the highway when my rear wheel bearing was bad. Just something to think about.

 

thank you all for the info, it ended up being the left caliper, which i replaced 2 years ago, and by all components i did mean rotors, pads.. front and rear, new right side caliper, as for the wheels, they suck but look good.
