Personally, I would "guess" (disclaimer: I'm not liable for damage if I'm wrong) that you change the oil, put it in, then change it again at "normal intervals" since they do say "Use SEA FOAM Every 2,000 to 5,000 Miles".

 

Seafoam sounds suspiciously like Marvel Mystery Oil...Anyone ever use both? Are they comparable? I've looked and never found Seafoam here in El Paso at Checker, Pep Boys or Auto Zone.

 

I use Marvel Mystery oil in my airtools. The Seafoam is more of a thin solvent to me. It feels and smells like a very strong petroleum based cleaner. The light aqua color is interesting also. But one thing is for sure....I have never seen a solvent produce the thick cloud of smoke that it does. It reminded me of the days that we put transmission fluid in the carb while running the engine. It was supposed to do the same, clean the lifters and valves while burning off the carbon.

 

Has anyone used Sea Foam Tran's Tune yet???

I've got a lot of stuff going on tonight, but I'll try to make it happen. According to the site I should be able to feel results "immediately" so that's a good thing. Hopefully my Schuck's will have it.

The bottom line is that my truck definitely shifts better. 1st->2nd is still "slower than I'd like" but it's definitely faster than it was.

The biggest change came in the downshift into passing gear. It's MUCH better. Quick and positive. $4.59 - another good investment.


This is only after about 7 miles of driving. I'll know more tomorrow after the drive to work.


(a personal disclaimer) I should point out that I know my driving style is such that I should get tranny work done to create a better experience and make my tranny work less. I'm not thinking that SeaFoam is a work-around for what should happen. ...but I like what it did for me.

 

where did you "induce" the seafoam into the tranny... which hole didya put it in

I used a funnel with a long flex neck on it long and poured it right down the filler tube.

One more update.

The drive to work showed... 1->2 is better, but I know I need tranny work ; 2->3 & 3->4 are NICE!; passing gear: "Wonderful!".


And an update on the engine cleaner:

I filled up today, and calculated 14.74 mpg which is exceptional for me given the circumstances. It's "that low" for two reasons: 1) That mileage includes a 3 hour trail ride on Tuesday night with a lot of time spent in 4 low and idling. 2) I filled-up sooner than normal because I have a lot of driving to do this afternoon and didn't want to worry about it. The mileage would come up if I would have finished the tank on highway miles (because of point #1).

 

wow that's good mileage! (14.74) I get about 13-14 most days and around 12 when I we'll alot. hardly ever above 15 like before. I think next week I'll give this intake/injector cleaning method a whirl.

 

well i called my local NAPA, talked to the guy, and he said, its by far the best thing in a can, IT WILL DO WHAT IT SAYS, so im gonna try it tonight, along with the Taco antenna mod.

These days I'm usually around 16.4, but a tank ago I somehow pulled out a low 17. I think it was from a good bit of messing with my fuel controller to dial-in WOT performance.

I'll know more as this tank goes through. It's got 1/2 a can of SeaFoam in it and I won't be on the trails at all. fwiw, I'm running Citgo (i.e. the cheapest around) 87 octane.

 

When I jumped up to 18+ last Sunday, I was running stuff that was $.15/gallon cheaper than anything else I've seen in months! I think it was something like "PREMCO" brand or something. I just wanted some cheap gas for the 225 mile ride home.
