Replacing timing cover Q's

Im replacing the front crank oil seal and I was thinking of also replacing the timing cover gasket. Got a bad oil leak in front. Is it as simple as Im hoping? Just remove water pump and then un bolt timing cover? I hope.

Not really that simple on my 81 22R. I pulled the valve cover and distributor to take the cover off. If you are in there replace the timing chain.

Well the supposed reason for the leak was the previous owner replaced the timing chain and did a half azz job puting stuff back on and now it leaks. So I'm hoping the chain is good.
