Random No Start

Hey, i have a strange issue with the 1990 v6 runner. Sometimes it decides not to start. Turn the key and i hear nothing. Battery voltage is good though. As soon as i hook up jumper cables it starts perfectly. I replaced a nasty + terminal and the - and ground look ok. I'm now thinking something along the lines of starter... what do you all think?

5-Speed or Auto? Do you have a starter solenoid? If you don't, you probably need one. See http://www.4crawler.com/4x4/CheapTri...l#OtherOptions for more info.

so starter huh? sounds about right... from what i've read here it makes sense to rebuild it. anyone know a good place for the rebuild kit? i'll look into the solenoid now. anymore ideas? i heard i could take jumpers directly to the starter to see if its the wires from the batt to starter. how do i know which is + and -? is it labeled?
