Preventative Maintenance

I'm getting ready to head off to school in the fall and as such will be doing some fairly long distance commuting on a semi regular basis. The kicker is that while at school my opportunities for working on my truck will likely be fairly limited. This being the case i want to have her as tight as possible before i take off.
So what do y'all recommend i inspect/replace/service over the summer before i leave?

This topic is pretty general and should be year irrelevant but for the specifics of my circumstance I have a 22RE 5-speed IFS EXT-CAB 94 pickup.

I have three categories of stuff to do so please add comment or advise for any of the three or their contents.
  • Service
    • Oil + Filter - Gonna hit her with another seafoam treatment too.(actually using an equivalent that my trucker friends use to more success but i can't remember the name)
    • Air Filters
    • All grease zerks.
  • Replace
    • Shocks - Bilsteins
    • Wipers (all this rain... not used to it)
    • Get some half decent headlights
    • BIG 3. Made a noticeable difference on my last truck, and at the price I'd be crazy not to.
  • Inspect
    • Fuel Filter - Anything to look for here?
    • Timing Chain
    • Battery
    • Alternator
    • Fuel Lines
    • Clutch - Anyway to check without dropping the tranny?
    • Spark Plugs and Wires
    • Injectors - How would i go about inspecting these? Or do i need to?

This list is just my ideas so far, but please pitch in with suggestions advice and or methods and i'll keep the OP updated so the list can be a reference with others. And yes i know some of these things are covered in other thread so feel free to just post a link rather than retype stuff.
I appreciate it guys,
Speed

Seems like you got everything covered.

As far as the fuel filter goes, there's really no inspection you can do on it. Toyota CLAIMS its a "lifetime part" and never needs "replacing" but honestly, I'd do it anyway. it wont hurt anything.

Fuel lines shouldn't need anything, and neither should your fuel injectors. If the truck is running like a champ, no reason to think its not getting fuel.

as far as the clutch, you can try looking through the inspection plate. but that's about all you can do.

I'd start with:

spark plugs
wires
cap
rotor
oil change + filter
air filter change
fuel filter
shocks
windshield wipers

Alternator shouldn't need replacing unless you feel your battery isn't at the correct voltage. hook up a voltimeter to your battery and see what its at.

Other than that. shouldn't really need anything else.

Depending on how much it gets driven while your at school I would change all of the fluids, change all of the filters. On top of that tune-up items if it's been a while.
And other safety items, windshield wipers, better headlights, good battery. Pretty much fix anything that's giving you trouble.

I wasn't meaning to do anything to the fuel system, merely inspect it. Rust corrosion etc that might cause problems down the road. Same with the alternator. Like i titled it, this is preventative maintenance.

In that case I'll leave the fuel filter for now. Clutch inspection plate? Where would i find that?
Thanks for that list, goes a little more in depth than mine.

Good point, hadn't thought of the tranny fluids and coolant.
Thanks.

Flush radiator and replace coolant.
Inspect brakes for wear and flush brake fluid.
Check tire air pressure including spare.
Check that light bulbs, turn signal, brakes lights, etc. illuminate.
