Power Steering Pump/Pulley

Ok, so I know my p/s pump leaks and really have no p/s anymore. But now my belt is screaming and it seems to be coming from the p/s pulley! I have heard there is a way to bypass it by getting a shorter belt. I have also heard there is a p/s free spinning pulley you can replace the old pulley with. If anyone knows about this, please give me some tips on the best way to fix this problem. Thanks

You referring to you Cadillac or the 91 toyota pickup 4x4 22re that i looked up in yer profile?

Why not just don't waste your money? spend 60$ and get a re-manned p/s pump shipped to your door? They are cheap.

Everything else I think was a waste of using your own brain power.. LoL =P

Unless you REALLY want to NOT have p/s.. It is an obvious solution. Just take the belt off.

I dont have a cadillac... But yeah, I am tight on money right now and I'm really not to worried about p/s at this time. So if I could just spend a few dollars on a shorter belt to bypass that pulley, it would do me just fine for the time being! Do you know if this is possible?

I was just messing with ya. Honestly man if you are tight on money it will NOT hurt to remove you power steering pump belt. Just loosen the pump. Slide off. Tighten pump.

That is what I did with my old 4Runner to save the pump before I could rebuild it. Had like that for 6 months with no problems.

And it is FREE. You can do the other stuff... but it is just wasted money in my opinion.
