Love my 2nd gen. It has some drawbacks but then so do the newer ones. I think what I would really like is a 2nd gen with a 3.4 motor.

I like the tailgate. Initially I wished I had the hatch type like on the newer ones, but it is growing on me. I had some minor trouble with the window in the tailgate to begin with but since I replaced the metal pieces that hold the glass at the bottom, it has been fine. I wish the glass didn't get scratched when you have to open it when the window is dirty. I do like the tailgate however so am prepared to put up with the rest.

The 3rd gens are a little bigger as well and the doors are a little bigger so they are a little bit easier to get into. Apart from that I couldn't see the value in paying more and there seems to be a major price jump between a 95 and a 96 or 97.

I think the torsion bar front end is fine and the old style steering box is tougher than the rack on the newer ones.

Randy

I love the body style and headroom. More power when trying to pass someone. Fun to drive!

2nd Gen Baby! But, I saw a Blue 4th Gen today while looking for puddles to drive through. I circled the block and safely did an exorcist neck move. It was soo pretty! Gotta have one after I get my new dream Lexus LX. Other than that, I'm happy with my 3.0 Nice round number. Right now the biggest thing i envy about the 3rd Gens is the rubber square cover over that square thing under the bumper. (i'm still learning my terminology- cars101)
