Police/Ambulance Horn

Are the horns that police cars and ambulances use electronic or are they air horns? they sound electric but are way loud. has anyone put one on their yota? is it even legal for a civilian to have that?

They are electric, the ones on the fire engines are air/mechanical. The horn is probably legal, but I doubt the siren is. The unit we have is a whelen and has both the siren and horn integrated into the same unit.
There are also real aftermarket automotive air horns that you can buy, that will probably suffice, and are way cheaper than a commercial electronic air horn, amplifier, speaker.

ive given up on a cheap way to get an 18-wheeler horn sound (ive done lots of research and seen about every option on the boards) so i decided itd be cool to have one like a police car/ambulance. how much do you think that kinda thing costs? id prefer not to get the siren combo one as thats just too tempting to play around with and get in trouble

A cheap combokit (siren/amp/speaker) is $260 on galls, do a search and see what you can find!
