Pine Tar Pitch removal?

Well, I've recently discovered that the only thing worse than being forced to park your truck under a pine tree for any length of time is if you also park it with a Can-Back top on. My 87 4Runner has pine pitch all over the hood, cab roof, sunroof, and Can-Back top. And when the tar dries it turns white on both the paint and the canvas. Getting it off the paint is tedious but not too hard with Goof-Off and a plastic scraper. I have no idea how to deal with the tar removal from the canvas top, however. Any ideas? I fear the answer is the same: Goof-Off and a scraper, as well as all that extra elbow grease. H.

Try gettin' a hold of a local upholstery shop an ask them what they suggest. Then, when you find out, Please let us know how it worked.
