Painting interior part

I installed my inclinometer a few weeks ago. Problem its red, and my trucks interior is brown so I want to paint the inclinometer cover brown for a close match. Any ideas on where I should start?

Mask it and paint it. A good paint to use on interior parts is Krylon Fusion for plastics. I painted my entire dash with that stuff like 4 years ago and paint still looks new, no scratches or anything.

just remove the cover..its the only part thats painted. No need to mask and possibly ruin your interior. Dont use crappy Krylon paint. Step up and pay the extra money for the flexible bumper/vinyl/plastic paint. The cheap crtap will just flake off and make a mess. I painted many of my red interior parts with the flexible paint, and tho its slightly more money, its WORTH it. Some auto parts store and all Auto body supply stores carry the paint.

I've had good luck with the Krylon Fusion, but th best stuff is the vinyl dye available at specialty car parts stores (not Autozone, etc) - CarQuest, maybe NAPA - and auto paint supply stores.

I just got my hands on a red one and will actually be painting it black instead of trying to match the interior color..., granted i am going for a black and brown themed 4Runner so....

adhesion promoter is a good idea. you can get interior paint from a paint store to paint it right i'm guessing your int color code is 025. i had the same color in my pickup. SEM makes a spray can for vinyl too

That 85, 86 brown interior color is hard to match. I've bought SEM and Duplicolor vinyl spray and neither has a brown that comes close. The SEM camel color chip looks close in magazines but it's not. I do know that the Duplicolor charcoal matches the 1st gen grey interior.
