NEED SOME IDEAS Please.....

Reeeally need some suggestions here. I built the bed, the whole time I was building I was telling myself Ill worry about it later. But now I don't know what to do. Obviously the design of the bed isn't gas nozzle friendly, but its a little late to change it. It works ok for now, but its cheesy looking and you have to pump gas real slow because the tube is kinked.

I would like to box it in with 1/8'' steel plate or something. And actually mount it in the proper position. But the hose?? Maybe theres a radiator hose or somthin with a 90 degree bend already in it that will fit. Or somthin,,, I donno....

Ideas..???

Oh... and it gets really muddy and you can't even find the fuel hose to fill up.

find the right angle for the filler then wrap some sheet metal around it. do your best to make it look good.

What if you cut all that out and just have it come straight out behind that bed mount? Then there would be no bends for that little tube to get kinked on. Then build a plate with a door or something that mounts either on the frame or that angled piece for your bed.

Looks like you might be able to get a little better angle if you swap the hoses around. Have the smaller one going over the big one. If that is possible.

Im leaning that way. I just really don't want to cut anything out structure wise.

Yah I might be able to get the small one in a better spot. Its the big tube thats pretty much doom'd where its at.

i ran into this same problem when i relocated my tank behind the rear axle. i ended up using part of a fuel filler neck from an older suburban (it had the proper curve to it), s piece of 2" universal fuel filler hose from Checkers, and the original anti kink hose wrap that came on m vehicle( just had to move it to a differnt part of the bend) its a long coil piece of plastic thats wraps around the hose and keeps constant pressure on the hose from all sides so it wont kink, and still allows it to curve. or ou could try a large outdoor gate spring with a similar diameter to the hose a slip ito there, it'll do the same thing. theres a couple ideas.

Ya good thoughts. Didn't think about the anti-kink stuff. If I could find an old filler hose with a 90 in it id be set. Long as its a close enough size to connect to the tank. I can pretty much do anything with the small vent hose. Ill check around for some hose.
Went to shucks and asked about fuel filler hose and they looked at me like I was crazy.
You were able to buy an S shaped hose? Sounds like the ticket, and throw a spring or somthin around it to prevent kinking. Likin it..

Liking the door idea to. Was thinking that would be overboard but it would help a lot with keeping mud out of there.

Nothin is overboard when your not on a boat

no the "s" was typo. but between the combo of stuff, i got it to snake around pretty good. you might have to hard line part of it too, with mabe some small diameter exhaust tubing or copper tubing elbows and hose clamps. not to sure how gasoline reacts with copper tho.

Gotcha. Appreciate the input everybody.

Ya a 90 fitting would pretty much do it I think. Im not sure about copper either. But plenty of other materials to choose from. I could probably even use the same hose, just start off the tank with the 90, then the rest of the hose should be ok. Think I'm still going to wrap some of that anti kink stuff on their.

Im going to see where it likes to sit after I fix the hose, then start on the box. And maybe even a door for the filler.

Ill post my results here in a few. Days that is
