Need help, why are my spark plugs fouled?
Just took out the spark plugs that have I put in my "new" 87 runner I bought 2 months ago. I pulled the plugs to check compression before adjusting valves and check/set timing. I need to do a good tune to pass oregon "smog" test. This is what my plugs look like after the 2mo.:
Gas milage could be better and mid range power levels 2-3,000rpm. Compression test on the 214,000mi never rebuilt 22re was from 165-180. #1 the highest through #4 the lowest in order.
Are my rings leaking enough to foul the plugs and combustion, but enough to seal the pressure in?
OR
Are my valve stem seals leaking down in???
OR
Can oil from the inside the valve cover be getting up into the pvc and into the intake?? I would check the pvc for operation but I can't get the damn thing out of the grommet that's more like hard plastic then rubber. But the hose is off and no oil.....
OR
Do I have a blown head gasket or cracked head? But then why would all the plugs be fouled?
OR
Or am I not yet smart enough to put 2 and 2 together?
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Yea, I doubt it's a headgasket, but check your oil to see if it's got coolant in it.
I couldn't get my PCV valve out either. I ended up just taking it to my mech. Had to have some other stuff done anyway. Plan on replacing the grommet if you do get it out. I have no tips on removing it.
I don't think it would be rings either if the compression is good.
I'd keep trying to get the PCV out, and check that.
