So I am in the process of getting this truck running after sitting 4-5 years. Finally got the rat chewed wiring back together good enough to get power to the fuel pump(tested with multimeter). And of course no noise from the pump which I figured. So I decided to drop the tank without removing the bed. The truck has a 3 inch body lift so removing the bed and I could tell having to restack it on the spacers was going to be a hassle. The lift actually made it easier to disconnect the fuel lines because I could access them just before the rear passenger tire above the frame. I was able to take all lines and connectors off before dropping the tank. Unfortunately the fuel pump hanger, fuel lever sender, and tank are in worse shape than I thought. After doing some research it seems I can buy a whole new tank for cheaper or the same price as trying to refurbish it. So I think that’s the route I’m going to go. All new tank and parts all at once so I don’t have any worries about junk getting in the fuel down the road. Any suggestions on any of these parts would be much appreciated!!
i don't know about that, but i agree with you that new is the way to go, i restored an old gas tank once, it was a nightmare.
I’m not necessarily asking where to buy the parts. Just if anyone had suggestions for parts they’ve used for their own fuel tank project that may be good or bad. I’ve done research and there’s high dollar options and cheaper options. Just looking for anyone’s opinion on fuel pump, fuel pump hanger, fuel level sender, and gas tank to MAYBE save me some money. Or if the best option is to just buy the more expensive OE fitment part.
