My 4Runner was stolen...

conveniently while I was out of town. The 4Runner just had a 3.4 installed in it. I feel sick to my stomach...

Around the Chicagoland area. 92' Gray 4Runner, 32' BFG Mud Terrains, OME suspension, sliders, 3.4...

yep...definately someone that knew you just upgraded to a 3.4. would be my bet...do some investigative work with your friends. sometimes it seems as though they are your friends and in reality they will screw you over when you least expect it. good luck...

Oh, damn! And if it's a '92, I'm guessing you're not carrying full coverage on it. Hope I'm wrong. How long has it been gone? Any leads yet?

Put this message and post pics on ALL message boards that you go to even if they aren't Toyota ones. Most likely it is someone who 4 wheels themselves and know a little about your truck. I can't see them stealing it since the truck doesnt have any bling if you know what I mean.

No, I have full coverage. Much effort, time, and money was invested in this thing.

Makes me watch mine closer. Has to be someone who knows you or watched your progress closely. I'm sorry to hear this and I hope that you get it back soon.

The 4Runner was recovered yesterday morning. Coincidently it was found about 10 minutes away in a near by suburb. The interior is literally torn up...the glove compartment and dash is in pieces. They evidently attempted to pull the engine but then decided that it was to much work. They cut the wiring harness, fuel lines, vacuum hoes, etc. My tranny, transfer case, battery, alternator, radiator, CD's, and god knows what else is gone. They left my sun roof open, so I had a nice pile of snow inside along with a bunch of garbage.

I meet with the insurance adjuster today to see where we go from here.

What the hell is wrong with people? Do the cops have any good investigative leads? Anyone apprehended yet? Like noted above, it looks like you can narrow your list of suspects to those who may have observed your swap. I hope you eventually get someone's head on a platter.

It will be interesting to see how the insurance co. handles this. What would you prefer at this point? Repair, or start over?

Yea, they have a lead. According to the Detective, the person they have questioned has been denying his arse off. The kid has had 2 similar offenses on his record.

I would much rather have it repaired. I don't think insurance will give me what its really worth. I'm actually in the middle of searching for all my recites for things I bought and did to it to give to insurance.

I hope you get it repaired. It would suck to have thrown that 3.4 in for nothing. Sorry to hear this happened man.

glad to hear you got it back and hopfully the insurance will accept the receipts for coverage. maybe its time for this person, who the police suspect, to be 'convinced' that confessing would be the best route to take. nothing like a little blanket party to get the ball rolling. good luck and keep us posted.
