Knocking and cutting out after valve adj

I just adjusted my valve with the engine warm to .007 and .011. I put everything together again and it started right up. WITH THIS LOUD FREAKING KNOCK NOISE?!? Was going to give the engine some time to warm up and slowly ran up the rpms and at about 3,000-3,500 the engine stumbles and starts cutting out. What the @#$% happened?? Did I get one too tight or hook up the vaccum hoses backward or something?

Do I just need to loosen one or two a bit, maybe got it too tight? Or is an insanely loud knock (NOT A SWEET LITTLE "tap") one or two are too loose?

The timing is set to 2deg retarded (help with emission test hydrocarbons) and the throttle body was just removed/cleaned/tested (TPS)/set/and replaced.

I had the same crap happend to me only to find out it was a bad exhust valve. It is in the shop as I speak for a new valve job. I do hope you have a smaller problem than I do. Also is it a knock sound, or a loud tap. A loud tap can also be a bad injector.

Didn't happen until right after I adjusted (tightened) the valves. Wasn't doing it before. About to go re-do them again. I was told to do them alittle tight (.007/.011) so I'll take them back to the factory .008/.012 and see what happends.....

Okay, adjusted to .008/.012 (factory) and the knocks gone. I did notice that I have another problem, the hesitation cutting out is still there?

I do have the timing 2deg retarded, will that cause it?

I accelerate slow to 3,000RPM and suddenly it starts caughing and RPM drops to 2,000. If I keep a slow acceleration through it then stablilizes and increases like normal? Fuel filter clogged??

Anyone, have any guesses??
