Ignitor/Coil died after 37 years and 315K miles

My ignitor/coil died after 37 years and 315K miles. I bet newer parts wouldn't last that long!

I was 60 miles from home. First time my little truck has left me stranded after 14 years of owning it. I was driving in town, lost acceleration, and managed to coast in to a gas station. After a little diagnosing, I was thinking no spark. I had just paired down tools because after 14 years of hauling around all my tools, I had not needed anything. Murphy's law!

So I had to get a rental car, drive 60 miles home, loaded up tools and an ignitor/coil I had pulled from a pick your part years ago, and then drove 60 miles back to the truck. A spark test showed no spark. Put on the ignitor/coil and she fired up! Drove the rental car back to Enterprise, got an uber back to the truck, and drove my little truck home.

There was no prior indication (misfires, hard starts or no start) to indicate a problem with the ignitor/coil. Glad I had pulled the used one and had it available. I actually have another one. Might put it in the truck just in case! Gotta love these little trucks!
