How deep can you get in water before having diff damage thoughts

It seems like it has just dumped everyday or every other day on us here in the Midwest. Every dip and creek is flowing to capacity and then some. While out driving through said "road rivers" the other day I had two thoughts...first...man this is cool...the second...I wonder if my diffs are taking in any water? I searched in the forums and could only find that most people were concerned if your truck got stuck in the huge puddles, but I couldnt find anything on just driving through the creeks or when to get worried about taking in water, or at what depth you should start thinking of draining and refilling the diff. I am kind of new at all this so if this is a remedial question forgive me, but I would rather be safe than sorry in the long run... All input is welcomed...even the ones about how I am just a stupid worrying dumb @$$!!!

If you've seen a lot of water time, it would be a good idea to drain and refill the diffs. While you're at it, extend your breathers, and then you won't have to worry about it...

If the water depth is always above the top of the diff, then you need to have an extended diff breather installed. If the stock breather just gets wet from splashes, there's no need to worry about it.

I can get in up to my gas cap without damaging the diff. It is a really easy place to terminate you diff breather, nice and protected.

Extend your diff breathers.
I'd change the oil in your diffs every now and then too. If oil is leaking out a little then water can get in.

I found how to extend the rear diff breather, but does anyone know where to find the scoop on extending the front diff? FYI the write up for the rear diff mod is in the tech write up section at https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f129...her-mod-75747/

I extended both my breathers, the front isn't too bad. Get the same materials, but you will have to cut thge nipple a little shorter so it doesn't rub on the oil pan. And just run the hose up staying away from moving suspenion parts and the exhaust manifold. It's easy.

My front breather is up just below the hood, right at the back of the engine bay.

The front breathers should already be extended from the factory. Who knows why they didn't do the rear too.

On 3rd gen. 4runners the front is "extended" up to about 3/4 of the way up the fron tire. I just got a double ended hose barb from Home Depot, along with some extra tubing I had from doing the rear, and ran it up as high as I could.

Where is the front breather located at? I'd like to extend mine all the way up into the engine compartment

On the driver's side inner fender, directly below the brake fluid resevoir. Easy to see too, not hidden at all
