help me out wit my trans!

i was driving one day in my 2x 89 and i was getting the usuall signs of my clutch going bad (the smell) and a couple miles down the road i had no clutch at all and i knew i needed a new one so i had it towed back home and put in a new clutch but didnt put the new bearing in kuz i was told i didnt need to, well heres the problem, it gives me a lil trouble wen i put it into 1st and 2nd and theres a grinding/rubbing/clanking noise coming out from right below the shifter in that area wen im driving in 1st thru 3rd but 4th seems to have no noise but then at 5th the noise comes back, the truck drives but that sound is n things up for me kuz i was supposed to sell it b4 the clutch burned out...i dont know if its kuz i didnt put the new bearing in it and im pretty sure i didnt drop anything in where the shifter goes kuz the seal that bolts it down has all 4 screws and bushings...could u guys please help me kuz im trying to selll my truck asap kuz theres a 4x4 that i want and i needd to buy it asap or else the guy might change his mind...sorry if my story is tooo long or it sounds a lil bit confusing but i really need to fix my truck asap...thank u

Well for starters I would replace the bearing. It can't hurt. The fact that there is only noise in certain gears indicates it could be an internal tranny problem caused by the clutch going out. But as mentioned I would replace the bearing before trying anything drastic.

also...am i supposed to hear a grinding clanking noise as soon as the clutch goes out? kuz thats wat happened...i was going about 50 and all i heard was a clanking/grinding noise and my foot was still on the gas and all i got was reving after that then i pulled over...is that wat happens wen your clutch goes out?

you might try changing the trans fluid might help and easier that dropping the tranny again

ill try it...is it hard to change that black bearing that comes with the clutch kit?

No idea, but if you do replace the fluid the best is redline synthetic gl-4 75w-90. Thats what I use.
