I was wondering if it is possible to put a 20R head on a late 22R block? I have done some reading up on it but i couldnt quite figure it out, so i thought i would ask the experts.

 

IF you put a 20r head on a pre85 block it will work with the dome pistons. I just done this with flat top pistons in a pre 85 block and for some reason I am getting around 110 psi on the cylinders. Now the 85 and newer block is shorter than the pre 85 so run flattops, or make dang sure you have the clearance between valve and piston if you run a big cam or 22r valves in a 20r head. Ive been looking this up trying to figure out my compression for the last few days. The funny thing is that even with that low of comp on mine( i think the comp gauge might be bad and I wasnt there to do it) it runs like a bat out of hell with a 270 cam. Good luck and get with engnbldr to make sure you get the right parts. timing chain and cover for the right block. Good luck and let me know what happens
