Toyota 4runner is ranked #2 in lowest fatalities per 1 million vehicle accidents right behind the Mercedes E class. 3 out of 10 lowest vehicle fatalities are Yotas, and they are all SUVs (4runner, Rav4, and Lexus RX)

The article implies that the study ran from 2000-2003 for the 1999-2002 model years. That means the 3rd gen runner, but I'm sure the 4th gen is just as good!

After seeing some of the pictures of overly-thrashed 4runners on different threads or links I can't say that I'm really surprised.

 

no way the rav 4 cant be up there its not even an SUV. Damn the rav4

 

Figures the MOST deaths catergory would contain predominantly American made vehicles, although it certainly doesn't surprise me.

 

Heh...My dad drives an E320 CDI, I drive a 4Runner (but not a safe one), my wife drives a new Passat, and my mom is about to get the RX hybrid....I guess we are pretty safe.
