general tune-up
intro: '95 4Runner, 3.0, auto, 218,000 miles, mostly stock
I bought my rig about a year ago, and started going over it and doing general maintenance that I think it has never before received. I just swapped out spark plugs, spark plug wires, rotor, cap, and O2 sensors. Except to swap out O2 sensors, I had to change out the entire exhaust from the manifold back seeing how the stud/nuts that the original O2 sensors were on had turned to lumps of rust....(plus my muffler was busted)
Overall, noise and vibrations went down, idle RPM dropped and smoothed out, and mileage increased a bit (up to 15mpg)
Everything went great changing things out, except I snapped a stud on the exhaust manifold right where it connects to the exhaust piping. Now my question is this: Even with the gasket in place, that one snapped stud lets enough exhaust leak by that it's audible as a nice popping/pinging sound. Will this escaping exhaust be hot enough to cause damage? Thanks all!

i doubt that it will cause damage, but i would suggest backing it out and replacing the stud. if you cant back it out, napa sell and kit to drill out a broken stud and sleeve the stud hole for a new stud. its called coil something. ask the guys at napa theyl know what your talking about.
