Front auto locker in snow?

Does anyone have any experience with autolockers (i.e. Aussie locker) on snow and ice when installed up front?

I've been reading most of the morning about autolockers. From what I understand, they disengage when coasting. So, as long as you're not hammering the throttle around corners in 4WD on ice (which isn't a good idea anyways), you should be okay, right?

I dont think it would be a good idea, a lunchbox in the rear can be handled but a fully locked truck in ice is what i worry about. Snow may not be a problem, but the ice will cause you to slip.

As I see it, I honeslty rather an LSD up front if you want front traction. At least it doesnt grab as much as a locker would and it isnt always on.

I would suspect the problems associated with an auto locker in the rear axle will also translate to the front... One way or another you will have to drive extra-conservatively to make up for the spinning inside tire...

And there's no way you'd be able to feather the throttle lightly enough on ice to prevent it from engaging...

I'm getting geared up to go full auto lockers all around and see how it works first hand. The way I figure, if I don't like it, I can sell it and not take a very large hit.

I'm setting up to go trutrac in the front and a E-locker in the rear. Sorta the best of both worlds. When I'm on a snow covered road at moderate speeds I'm not going to be locked in the rear but I will be in 4WD so I will have the extra traction in the front from a posi.
