Field Monitoring Unit from a Surf into a Hilux pickup...
So I've got an FMU from a Gen 3 Hilux Surf to fit into my UK spec LN165 Hilux (2000 plate). It never came standard with it so everything will need to be wired from scratch.
I've read the pages on how to fit to a Forerunner so I've got the necessary colour codes for the wires and where to route them.
On most accounts I should be ok - I've bought an aftermarket ambient temperature sensor as it doesn't come with one from factory so hopefully that'll work, however the main issue I have is the unit wants to be wired to the ABS unit to calculate speed/direction for the compass. My model of Hilux has an analogue, cable driven speedo and no ABS...
Does anyone know of a workaround to wire up the FMU and allow the compass to function correctly via an aftermarket solution?
I've added a picture of my Hilux just for kicks
Thanks!
