End of an era - ZUK is retiring from mail-in gear installs
#1
Sad (but happy for him) to report hat ZUK is moving and retiring from mail-in 3rd member rebuilds as per his site. Sounds like he'll still be doing local builds, but no more mail-in diff rebuilds. Was in email communication with him about a job where he confirmed.
Kicking myself for not mailing in my 3rd member for a rebuild end of last year before he took off 2022 for vacation. Being in the midwest I probably won't make it out his way and will be on the hunt for a competent diff builder in Michigan for my next build.
Bummed to see him go, but really happy he's getting some more time back and for all he's contributed over the years.

Yep. I just hope he keeps his site up for a while longer. I've downloaded a ton of stuff from there and use the site A LOT. He's been my inspiration to learn and do diffs.

I have an axle shop down the street from me who did my pinion bearing the first time and did a crappy job. Didn't inspect the gears which turned out to be shot, and the preload wasn't done properly. Decided a couple months later I should have cried once bought once and went with ECGS. Went with a solid pinion spacer and Yukon gears. Down the line I might do a locker install.
I can highly recommend them, Toyota Time with Timmy has a whole video series he filmed there where they installed gears in both his front and rear, along with a locker.
