drive shaft rotation

Does the drive shaft from a passenger side drop vehicle rotate in the same direction as a drivers side drop? (clockwise/counter-clockwise??) If I have a high pinion e-locked third from a pass. side drop (first, second, third gen), can I use it on a drivers side drop axle housing (Tacoma SAS),or will I need to get special cut (reverse rotation) gears, or will it not work at all?? I've been going over it in my head, and I know the answer, but I just want to be totally certain of it......
