Discharge light on and off

I have a 2001 Toyota sequoia and last August the discharge light came on so I bought a new alternator and replaced it. For about 6bmonths I had no problems. The discharge light started coming on in the mornings and I would have to rev the engine several times to get it to go off and so the vehicle would run. I replaced the serpentine belt. It still does it. Every morning and sometimes just when I start the car after it's been sitting all day the discharge light appears I rev the engine a few times and it goes off. Today it came in and actually got bad enough that the abs lights etc were all illuminated and I had to really lay into while driving to get it off and keep it from dying. I think my next step is to start changing out pulleys however I don't where to start and should I be looking elsewhere. I have always driven fords and always done my own mechanic work, I just need to know where to start. Thanks for any help you can give me.

Best place to start is a multimeter, what kind of alternator was purchased, Toyota or aftermarket??
