Dakar anyone?

Checking out the Dakar website, cool race, too bad the big $$ teams aren't Toys. Definately some cool rigs though!

Apparently i heard that civilians CAN run the Dakar with the teams but at their own risk. i wouldn't mind running in a modded 4Runner.

Anybody can run the Dakar as long as you can pay the entrance fee and your vehicle meets certain min. standards. There is a link from the dakar main site with all the info you might need... most of the "privateers" seem to enter in the bike/quad class as it is the cheapest entry fee... in the first few dakars people were entering in their family cars. with almost no special prep. work.
Running it is a personal life dream of mine and I'll do it... one day..

As soon as that Lotto turns out in my favor, I'm there! I think racing Baja might be the start, and then on to Dakar

Again, Toyota rules the Production Class (T2) using the VDJ200 (T2 1st place & 14th place overall), KDJ120, and KUN26.

btw, what brand and model of wheels are the Toyotas using?

I think it is a newly developed BFG being used by the racers this year.
