My waterpump is dying a slow death. I've added some stop leak and it killed the noise and has slowed the leak down. I know it is only a matter of time before it dies.

Option 1 - I'll be willing to help with the replacement - I don't feel I have the skills/tools/time to do it. Projects seem to take me 2 times longer than anyone else. This option is my preference so I can learn a little something along the way. Of course - I'll provide cash/beer/pizza/wings.

Option 2 - I'd be willing to drop it off to someone and come pick it up when it's done. I pay in cash and beer - name how much you want of each. I can leave it for a week or a day or a weekday.

Or option 3...Anybody have a good shop that won't rape me. I know it is a time consuming job and I don't expect this to be cheap. I called the dealer and they wanted $675 - I called an independant shop - $650. I'll take it to the dealer for the difference.

I'm in the Western Suburbs - but willing to drive anywhere. I'll bring whatever - provided I have it.

Which motor?

for the 3.0 it's not tough at all - be sure to do timing belt while you're at it. There are several writeups on here how to do it.

 

Yeah - 3.0.

The truck has about 103k. From what I know the timing belt was done - but certainly worth doing again.

 

You'll have it off anyway - the only extra cost/time is for the belt itself (mine was ~$30 IIRC)

 

might as well do the upper/lower hoses, tstat and belts, flush the engine and replace the coolant, wash out the rad and a/c condensor (if equipped) and check the idler pulleys while you are in there.
