CEL Flashing

I have a CEL comming on when i push my engine to high RPMs. It might just be around 3rd gear also but it is hard to tell. The CEL flashes for a second when the engine hits high RPMs and then goes off when they drop down. Seems like its mostly when there is a hill I'm climbing, though not everytime. I tried to pull codes but none seemed to be stored after this happens. Any ideas of the cause of this?

What model, engine, year, etc? Knowing what out are working on helps members give better responses.

im also having rough idle after starting when engine is warm. seems to go away after driving or a bit or revving. could it be related. im thinking it could be the fuel filter? i just bought this truck a month ago. im driving it 150 miles a day. the previous owner used it sporadically and kept up on maintenance. it was a garage kept vehicle.
